Staying Organized in Your Strategy

In Marketing Strategy by Chloe Reynolds

Congratulations, you’re implementing your own content and are ready to start posting! Keeping your strategy organized and running smoothly is super important if you want to be effective (and we want you to be). So, this week we’ll be giving you some advice on how to stay organized in your strategy.

First, plan the work, then work the plan. You might have a bunch of ideas for what you want to post, topics you want to write about, or links you want to share, but one of the first things you need to do is make a content calendar.

Content calendars are a light in the dark when it comes to content strategy. Once you have one you will never want to be without one again. A content calendar lists out exactly what you will be posting every platform utilized. This includes links, images, tags, and when you plan on posting them. Content calendars help plan months in advance. Helping you to never have to wonder about what’s going to be posted and when. Just refer to your calendar and see. There will never be a need to panic because you realized you don’t have any posts scheduled for this week!

Another way to organize your strategy is to make sure you have a brand style guide. What this consists of is going to be unique to your organization. This style guide will house all brand standards for your company. The length of this document can vary and range from a couple of pages to quite a few. It really depends on the organization. You’ll want to include fonts, website content, PNG files of your logo, the exact colors of your brand, and a few other important branding elements. Having all these files and standards in one place to be referenced by all will help maintain consistency across your content and all platforms.

Strategy organization is a lot of trial and error and learning what works best for you. A content calendar and a brand standard guide, you will be well on your way to an organized and consistent content strategy for your brand.
