Burglarizing The Best Way: Backwards

In Backwards Burglar by Annie Serbinski

Now is the perfect time to reflect on the joy you experienced during the holidays and the time you had with family and friends. At Michigan Creative, we had the chance to spread lots of kindness through The Backwards Burglar – a witty holiday event celebrated by our entire office. From shopping to wrapping gifts, every Michigan Creative had a chance to join in on the fun and give back to the community.

The Tradition

The Backwards Burglar is a tradition we have continued for 6 years, with many more to come. He may have had to adjust his tactics this year, but that didn’t stop him from reaching out to those in need this holiday season. We are so happy that, despite the pandemic, we were able to bring cheer and warmth to a family in need. By partnering with Child and Family Charities, a local non-profit, the Backwards Burglar delivered gifts to the community without having to “break into” any homes. Our friends at Child and Family Charities helped coordinate a wish list and deliver gifts along with a note wishing the family a happy holiday on behalf of the Backwards Burglar.

The Response

Seeing the reactions from the community is the best part of the Backwards Burglar. Even while shopping, we got called “little elves” by those passing by. Although we didn’t get to see the family’s faces, seeing the surprised looks on the faces of coordinators at Child & Family was so heartwarming.

The Backwards Burglar believes in making people’s day. It’s also no coincidence that at Michigan Creative, we believe everyone we come in contact with should have a better day. That’s why we are incredibly thankful to have coordinated another successful year of the Backwards Burglar and are excited for many more to come.
