How To Get Involved in Your Local Community
It’s no secret that networking makes the business world go around. One of the best ways to propel your business to the next level is by making connections, but how do you make that happen? You could start shouting your quarterly goals out on the street and hope the person who can solve your accounting problems is walking nearby. However, the success rate on that would probably be pretty low.
Here are some other, more effective options!
Local Networking Events
People are constantly finding ways to connect with like-minded entrepreneurs. One of the most common and effective ways to build your network is by attending networking events. That’s right! Dust off your elevator pitch and slip on those loafers because we’re expanding our network. Networking events help you dive into your local business community because everyone is there with a similar purpose. Everyone at a networking event hopes to secure quality connections with people who might share their business ventures, mindsets, or goals. Once your business community starts to grow, there’s a good possibility that it can help your business grow too. However, this is not the only way to grow your business community. There are plenty of other ways to build your network, some of which don’t even require you to wear a tie.
Social media: The Great Connector
You can find almost anything on the internet, including connections with heavy hitters and leaders of your industry. Developers have created specific social networking sites that make it easier to link you with professionals in your industry and area. Linkedin is one of the biggest ones – do you want to connect?
Linkedin is a great way to connect with individuals in your industry and stay up to date with the big wins coming from their team or business. If you had a good quarter and didn’t post about it on Linkedin, did it really even happen? Social media like Linkedin opens you up to a world of opportunities and a community that otherwise may have been difficult to reach. You can grow your network and achieve success by building your network online.
If you’re scared of social media (I know I am), maybe Linkedin isn’t for you. There are plenty of other ways to get in touch with your local community. Join your local chamber of commerce, run workshops to share your knowledge with others, or sponsor the local T-ball team. Find different ways to get your brand out there. You’d be surprised how many different people your business can reach, whether it’s online or in person.
