The Mindset of a Millennial
Odds are you’ve heard millennials are an impatient, rude, and lazy generation. While every generation has its bums and its over-achievers, it’s not fair to point fingers. These three ugly characteristics can be a good thing for society — if you don’t believe me, keep reading.
We are impatient – we don’t like being told what to do, but who does?
With information at our fingertips 24/7, we gained the ability and stamina to create new ventures for daily inconveniences.
Some examples being: Uber, where now instead of calling a cab, we press a button in an app. Trips to the grocery store don’t have to be a hassle anymore with online pick-up and delivery, and last but not least, we can text or call anyone at any time instead of waiting for a convenient time.
Taking matters into our own hands isn’t always a bad thing, after all, the best way to get something done right is to do it yourself.
We are rude – everyone can be, why are we getting called out for it?
Millennials are notorious for telling people when we disagree with something, a characteristic that can come across as rude. We are a generation who prides themselves on standing up for what we believe in, good or bad.
We are lazy – so what if we don’t constantly have something to do?
Being able to relax, observe, and analyze our surroundings is an element of success. We choose not to do certain things because we won’t enjoy doing it, or we won’t be able to give our best effort. We know ourselves well and we know when the best time for us to accomplish a task is.
The millennial mindset is one everybody could learn from. They like a challenge and if they can’t find a solution with the tools they are given, they create their own.
Now that you’ve read my take on my generation, what are your thoughts?
