Knowledge is Power!

In Marketing, Michigan Creative, Video by Michigan Creative

Although my role around here at Michigan Creative has become quite substantial in the last year, and I could continue to work here full time, I’m going to continue on the path of education. I believe one should never stop learning, and that’s exactly what I intend to do. Recently I was accepted to Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, and there I will study Collaborative Design and Digital Media (mouthful, right?).

While I’m somewhat sad I’ll be missing out on the big projects we’re always working on and huge ideas we’re always talking about, I feel this is necessary for my personal development and artistic career, so I guess I’ve just got to ramble on. My duties and commitment to Michigan Creative will have to be reduced almost by half, but I still plan on being a part of this team while studying in GR. And hopefully – speaking for the sanity of my boss – my experiences at Kendall will only improve our capabilities as a company, and strengthen our creative processes in the future.

So, as I plan to leave this growing city of Lansing, which is also my hometown, I indeed look to return after my years at Kendall. Education, in my opinion, must come first before anything; in the years to come it will take precedence over most objectives in my life. But there’s nothing more fulfilling than learning something you believe can make a difference in your life and the world around you, and that’s what I hope to do. Sure, most of my friends will be graduated, maybe even married by the time I’m done – but this is a commitment worth making.
